MIT, along with six other universities, is a member of a partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to help alleviate poverty in the developing world through the use of science and technology. There are two major components of this partnership; the Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE) and the International Development Innovation Network (IDIN). CITE evaluates technologies to help donors and policy-makers pursue the best solutions for challenges in the developing world. The Sociotechnical Systems Research Center (SSRC) is part of this groundbreaking interdisciplinary effort.
