Big data requires big storage. In a world where government and industry are now measuring data in terabytes, petabytes, and exabytes, the MIT Information Quality Program (MITIQ) works with partners to improve data capturing and understand how to leverage its power.

The MITIQ Consortium partners with government and industry to improve an organization’s ability to capture and harness the power of information. Projects and initiatives focus on big data management and systems development. Researchers work with these organizations to significantly improve information management and leverage information for strategic objectives.

Each year MITIQ and the International Conference on Information Quality partner with industry sponsors to host fora on data management and leadership.

  • The MIT Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Information Quality Symposium is a premier Information Quality forum for practitioners, vendors, and academicians.

  • The Chief Data Officer forum for Senior Executives brings industry executives in data management to MIT. This forum recognizes the growing criticality of the CDO's role in modern organizations and provides an opportunity for executives to come together and explore these advancements with their peers from top-tier organizations.

MITIQ brings rigorous research analysis and practical experience to industry and government partners to improve organizational processes and strategic planning in healthcare, business, finance and the public sector.

MITIQ fosters collaborations that have lead to the creation of new information quality societies in Germany, France, Argentina, and Brazil.

Many publications have been made possible through sponsorships; publications are available here.

MITIQ helped establish the Ph.D. and Master of Science in Information Quality degree program at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the Stuart Madnick IQ Best Paper Award for the International Conference on Information Quality, the comprehensive IQ Ph.D. dissertations website, and the Donald Ballou & Harry Pazer IQ Ph.D. Dissertation Award. In 2012, MITIQ helped China establish the first-of-its-kind Center for Data Science and Information Quality.
