SSRC Researchers Awarded 2013 Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence

SSRC researchers Josef Oehmen and Eric Rebentisch won the 2013 Shingo Research and Professional Publication Award for "The Guide to Lean Enablers for Managing Engineering Programs", a joint collaboration between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Lean Advancement Initiative (MIT-LAI), the Project Management Institute (PMI), and the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). The prize was awarded for demonstrating a commitment to promoting operational excellence through a published work.

MIT Partners with U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)

MIT, along with six other universities, is a member of a new partnership with USAID to help alleviate poverty in the developing world through the use of science and technology. There are two major components of this partnership. The Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE) will evaluate technologies and the International Development Innovation Network (IDIN) will create a network to develop and disseminate technologies in the developing world. SSRC researchers are examining sustainability, scalability and suitability in their evaluation of technological systems.
